Snowmobiling for incentive groups in Lapland

Snowmobiling in the forest of Lapland, Finland

Shortly after briefing of driving technique and safety rules you start your day with snowmobile safari right from the city centre, through the wilderness. Two persons share one snowmobile, taking turns in driving.Arriving to the Husky farm where friendly huskies welcome the group. Warm drinks as coffee and berry juice served upon arrival. Everyone can enjoy a husky ride in a sledge hauled by the husky team. For centuries, people living in the Arctic have relied on a strong and tenacious partner; the Arctic sled dog, the husky to transport the catch of the hunt or medicines in harsh condition across inaccessible terrain. This 30 minutes safari gives you opportunity to experience something unique; the ties between the musher and the dogs formed on a joint expedition into the wilderness. You soon learn that behind its icy-blue gaze is a friendly canine character who works closely with people.

After Husky Farm safari continue to the wilderness lake, where everybody can try his luck in ice fishing. The catch will be prepared as a delicious snack by an open fire. In winter time fishing is not so easy when rivers and lakes are frozen. Fish is, however, delicious and nice dish to enjoy also during the winter. First you have to make a hole in the ice with a help of a drill, then drop the line with hook and bait through it and wait for the catch with patience. While fishing it’s important to keep the hole open that it won’t freeze up. If that happens the line gets stuck, and you will end up with nothing but an empty stomach. Outdoor lunch of 2 courses + coffee will be served. Continuing snowmobile safari towards town. Return back to town. Program duration appr. 6 hours. Non-stop saunas at disposal at the hotels (not private).

In the evening private coach transfer to the RESTAURANT SANTAMUS for dinner. Santamus could well be described as a “restaurant of sensations”, tempting all five senses. Upon entering the log house you “forgot” the time and place, as this is a whole new world for you. Snags, a gurgling brook, natural spruce trees on the shore of a pond; where trout swim, fireplace fires glow in the dim light…the feeling and scene make newcomers rub their eyes. Menu of 3-course + coffee is served.

OPTIONAL: Music show in Santamus Amazing show of one man playing rare instruments such as Finnish harp accordion and saw takes its place. The creator of Santamus, Matti Korva will host this magical event and accompany the group through the whole experience. After welcoming the guests he will play beautifully sensitive music of the Finnish national string instrument the “kantele”. This gives its own touch to the already amazing atmosphere. Listen to “Somewhere over the Rainbow” played by Matti with the saw. You will also have the chance to learn how to play it yourself.

Return transfer back to hotel for overnight.

Day 4 – Departure via Sky High Brunch

Morning at leisure – you can sleep a bit longer! Check-out, return your safari outfit to hotel lobby. Farewell brunch is served in the panorama restaurant Sky High, located on top of Ounasvaara Hill. You can admire the view over the river valley and city from the roof terrace of the hotel.
