Incentive program in Saariselkä
DAY 1 – Arrival, welcome dinner at Petronella
Upon arrival at Ivalo airport meet & greet by Lapland Safaris guide and board the waiting coach for transfer to your hotel in Saariselkä resort. Transfer time approximately 20 minutes.
Upon arrival at your hotel, Lapland Hotel Riekonlinna pre-registered check-in. Luggage will be delivered to your room. Spend the night at Lapland Hotel Riekonlinna, which is a stylish four-star hotel in Saariselkä, Finland. Our location in the far north in the old goldfields of Lapland, where Sami culture and the proximity of the Arctic Ocean have added their own spice over the centuries – makes us ideal for a holiday. Meet your guide at hotel reception. Welcome dinner will be served in the restaurant Petronella.
Petronella is located in the center of Saariselkä, within couple of minute walk from your hotel. Restaurant Petronella is a high-quality restaurant which main function is good food and cozy environment.
The restaurant is named by a Dutch adventuress and journalist Sylvia Petronella van der Moer. 26 years old Sylvia Petronella heard about Lappish gold-miners in Rovaniemi year 1949. She travelled to Lemmenjoki, where she worked as a cook`s helper for gold-diggers. However after 4 months stay cheerful and hardworking Petronella was deported because her passport had become old and she had unpaid hotel bills. It`s still mystery where Petronella went after that and what did she do, but Petronella made a deep influence to gold-miners of north. In year 1989 founded Petronella is one of the 13 restaurants in Lapland which has been awarded for Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (year 1992). Dinner of 3-courses will be served. After the dinner, walk back to your hotel. Overnight in hotel Riekonlinna.
DAY 2 – Winter Olympic Games
Finnish buffet breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant. After breakfast, meet your guide in hotel lobby. Walk to the nearby Safari Club where you will receive safari clothing (socks, shoes, overall, mitten, balaclava) for today’s activities. (click the images to enlarge them)
After a short transfer by bus to to Lake Kolmikanta a day full of excitement and fun awaits you! The unique winter fun games take place on the frozen lake. Test the arctic skills of your team in activities such as quad bike slalom, Kota tent building, fire making, tandem skiing and Lappish lasso throwing. After the exhilarating games get together in the forest RESTAURANT KAAMOSKAMMI and enjoy the lunch (e.g. salmon soup) and a mug of coffee. Transfer back to the hotel by bus. Duration of the program approximately 4 hours Afternoon is free and can be used to explore the Saariselkä ski resort on your own: Either by skis, snow shoes, kick-sled or tobogganing. Hotel saunas are at guests’ disposal (non-exclusive basis). Early evening meet your guide at hotel reception. Enjoy the ultimate white silence. You’ll experience the Lappish scenery from a different point of view on snowshoes. Snowshoes help to reach untouched snowy plains that are otherwise un-accessible on foot. You might even find some tracks of rabbits, foxes, snow grouses or squirrels if you are lucky! Short, less than 1 km walk from the hotel to your dinner venue at IISKONLOMPOLO, which is a cozy kota, located near Saariselkä village, by a small forest lake. Fire place in the middle and candles on the tables create a warm atmosphere while dining Lappish way. After the dinner walk back to the hotel. Overnight stay in Hotel Riekonlinna
DAY 3 – Snowmobiling and Husky
Finnish buffet breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant. Meet your guide at the lobby of the hotel. Short walk to the Safari Club to pick up the helmets and further to the snowmobile park. This is a safari combining top arctic experiences in winter Lapland – snowmobiles, ice-fishing and husky teams. (click the images to enlarge them)
Group begins with a snowmobile safari speeding along the trail through narrow valleys and over the treeless tops of the fells. Later on they reach the local Husky Farm. Friendly huskies are waiting! The team will be whisked more tranquilly on a safari in sleighs pulled by husky-dogs to the snow-covered forests. Two persons are sharing a husky sledge, taking turns in controlling the Husky team. From the husky farm tour continues to the North of Saariselkä to a remote lake. Bore a hole through the ice and try your fisherman’s skill on ice-fishing! The catch may even be the beauty of Lapland’s crystal waters, the trout. Warm yourself around a campfire and listen to the silence of the nature while having lunch prepared by your guide. The return track leads all the way up to the top of the Kaunispää fell, the fell closest to Saariselkä Resort. On a clear day even the fell-tops over Russian border are visible in the far distance. SAUNA EVENING IN AURORA BOREALIS SAUNA
Meet early evening at hotel reception. Coach transfer to Sauna evening and dinner. SAUNA EVENING IN AURORA BOREALIS SAUNA Deep in the arms of surrounding fells, you can find the jewel of all saunas. This Lumberjack style sauna with modern shower facilities has been designed to cater both small and large groups. Situated conveniently close to Revontuli Court, Aurora Borealis Sauna provides ideal combination of serene wilderness sauna and professional restaurant facilities.
After relaxing sauna experience continue evening in REVONTULI COURT (Revontuli = Northern Lights). The decor of the venue brings out the mysterious shimmer of the Northern Lights right to your dining table. Dinner of three courses will be served around open fire.
During the evening, if you are lucky, you might even experience Northern Lights dancing in Arctic sky! After sauna and dinner transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Hotel Riekonlinna
DAY 4 – GOODBYE TO LAPLAND!
Finnish buffet breakfast is served in the hotel restaurant. Check-out and luggage handling in the hotel. Return your safari outfit at the reception. Transfer by private coach to Ivalo airport for departure – farewells to your guide!

All programs are weather permitting. All the items are subject to availability at the time you request the space. We reserve the right to change the rates in the event of increase of taxes, fuel costs or similar beyond our control.
All the snowmobiles, cars and forest scooters are insured as required by the Finnish Traffic Insurance Act. This insurance covers medical care for injuries to the driver and the passenger arising from accidents. Personal injuries and damages to other parties while driving a snowmobile, car or forest scooter are fully covered according to the Finnish Traffic Insurance Act. Lapland Safaris is not liable in general for personal injuries or material damage arising from accidents during other games and activities such as husky sleigh safaris, reindeer safaris or other excursions in which snowmobiles or quad bikes are not involved. Personal travel insurance is therefore highly recommended.
Safari participants are held liable for damages caused to snowmobiles, forest scooters or cars. Each vehicle driver must put down a damage deposit on the spot upon their arrival,by cash or credit card, if other arrangements have not been made in advance. The amount of the deposit is EUR 980,- for snowmobiles and forest scooters and EUR 1 830,- for cars. The customer must notify Lapland Safaris in advance about who (each participant individually or the orderer or company) is going to be held responsible for self liability. The self liability is mentioned during the driving lesson before safari/car driving activity begins.
The driver of a snowmobile must be 18 years old with a valid driving licence, forest scooter driver has to be at least 18 years old with a valid driving license. Children under 2 years old are free of charge and children under 15 years old get a discount and they are then allowed to sit on a sledge pulled by a snowmobile. Children under 15 years old are seated in a sledge pulled by snowmobile and are given helmets. Driving a snowmobile or forest scooter under the influence of alcohol or any narcotic products is prohibited by Finnish law. As the responsible safari organizers, we reserve the right to change the routing and duration of the excursions if necessary, according to the prevailing weather and snow conditions, or if deemed advisable for the sake of safety and the comfort of the participants. We also reserve the right to discontinue the safari if a participant is seen as a potential danger to him/herself or to others, or is in poor health.
